Subject Name Course Description
Ethical & Regulatory Considerations for Financial Planners Introduces the laws and codes of ethics necessary for working as a CFP certificant with an ethical mindset of “protecting the maximum profit of the client”; specifically deals with legal matters arising in the course of carrying out the following: integrated financial planning, trust information management, transaction system by real name, consumer protection systems, consumer bankruptcy, trust rehabilitation support, network information society and personal information protection, as well as matters related to the code of ethics as they occur in the course of carrying out financial planning
Principle of Financial Planning Introduces knowledge and technology based on the actual experience necessary for establishing customer service & financial planning, and formulating & implementing a strategy; specifically deals with financial planning and CFP, financial planning process, integrated financial planning, financial planning per life event, and cases of financial planning
Time Value of Money Introduces the knowledge and technology that enables us to determine the time value of money as an essential factor in financial planning using a financial calculator; specifically deals with the method of using a financial calculator, basic concepts of the time value of money, lump sum calculations, pension calculations, and continuous payment calculations
Risk Management & Insurance Planning To prevent a scenario wherein one cannot realize one’s financial objectives because one is exposed to unpredictable risk and a failure occurs, this course introduces knowledge and technology based on actual experience as necessary for risk management and insurance planning.
Whereas the AFPK textbook emphasizes theory, the CFP textbook deals with product and design as required for the client’s risk management and insurance planning.
Specifically, it deals with risk and insurance, life insurance products, non-life insurance, social insurance products, and the planning processes for life insurance and non-life insurance
Investment Planning Introduces knowledge and technology based on actual experience as necessary for composing an optimized portfolio that can effectively realize the client’s financial objectives; specifically deals with the time value of money, economic environment analyses, investment theories, securities valuations and investment strategies, bond valuations, bond investment strategies, management strategies for derivatives, asset diversification strategies, asset diversification and financial products, and investment result assessments
Real Estate Planning Introduces the knowledge and technology necessary for providing professional real estate services among the components of an optimized portfolio that can effectively realize the client’s financial objectives; specifically deals with the basic tools of real estate, investment products related to real estate, investment methods, and process of financial planning related to real estate
Retirement Planning Introduces knowledge and technology based on actual experience as necessary for preparing in advance for post-retirement life; also deals with the knowledge and technology necessary for leading an ideal life after retirement and during the working period; specifically deals with the general principles of retirement planning, public pensions, processes of retirement planning, calculation for retirement planning, cases of retirement planning, retirement plans and tax benefits, retirement plans and personal pensions, and employee benefit systems
Tax Planning Introduces the knowledge and technology for each tax status in order to train students in case analysis and prepare for a proper solution per tax area as necessary for effectively realizing the client’s financial objectives; designed to enhance an understanding of taxes after dividing the tax law into actual cases as they relate to CFP’s curriculum; specifically introduces a general summary of tax planning as well as integrated income taxes, finance-related taxes, business-related taxes, real estate-related taxes, and inheritance & donation taxes
Estate Planning Introduces the knowledge and technology necessary for effectively transferring the material and immaterial properties accumulated by a person to date -- and to be accumulated in the future -- to the next generation; deals with the knowledge and technology necessary for acquiring a broad, harmonized mind that can be tuned by CFP and is able to integrate the opinions of each professional field (law, taxes, insurance, and investment); specifically deals with the meaning of inheritance planning, role of a CFP, legal matters related to estates, measures of operation, and business succession in estate planning
Financial Planning Practice Case Study The core theories and main themes of the 7 subjects are studied through cases.
This course was developed to enable students to acquire the technology for identifying the client’s needs and supplying a solution by indirectly experiencing through actual cases, the areas of expertise predicted to be a part of an actual work environment
  1. 1. At least 200 hours should be assigned to the classroom education. For the classroom education, it is required to meet the minimum time allocation requirements for each subject.
  2. At least 220 hours should be assigned to the distance education.
02. Publication of a new textbook and guide to the exam application period
  • A new textbook is published in late April every year, reflecting the newly amended laws and system practices. The information therein is applied to this year’s November exam and next year’s May exam.
  • Each year, the revised content of the textbook is posted on FPSB Korea’s website in late May.
  • A newly amended law or system implementation that is not reflected in the textbook is not presented until the May exam. If its content is considered to be important to the financial planner’s work duties, a script of the content appears in the exam questions, and the exam question is presented.
